Rep. Cabello Calls Dems Actions Undeniably Disgusting

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois House Republicans, furious about the lack of a state budget and seemingly empty session calendar thus far this year, challenged House Democrat leadership today to not adjourn as scheduled for the entire month of March.

State Representative John M. Cabello released the following statement in reaction to the House Democrats adjourning without scheduling another session day for an entire month.

“I am sincerely disappointed in the actions that the House Democrats displayed today when they hurriedly left Springfield and adjourned without giving any reason why. Republicans made a motion to bring the legislature back the following day so that we could continue to work to find a budget solution.”

“However, the motion, despite being completely in line with the rules, was ruled out of order with no explanation why. Democrat leadership quickly left the chamber to prevent debate on the issue, leaving the states most vulnerable and middle-class families without a budget for critical services for at least an entire month.”

“This move was undeniably disgusting. We all know of the horror stories Illinois families are facing without a budget and they still adjourned anyways. It’s absolutely criminal.  If it were up to me I would lock everyone in the chambers until we solved the problem.”
